Fire Risk Assessment
Legally you must comply! A Fire Risk Assessment is a legal obligation for all premises that employ five or more people, or if your setting is open to the public. This needs to be both documented and regularly reviewed according to the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
Fire Risk Assessment
Legally you must comply!
What constitutes a Fire Risk Assessment and its outcome?
- Identifying fire hazards such as sources of ignition, fuel or oxygen
- Identifying all people at risk in and around the premises
- Evaluating the risk of a fire starting and the risk to people from a fire
- Removing or reducing fire hazards or risks to people from a fire
- Protecting people by providing fire precautions
- Recording the significant findings
- Preparing an emergency plan
- Informing and instructing relevant people, including visitors
- Providing training for staff
- Reviewing the fire risk assessment regularly and make changes where necessary
- Keep accurate fire risk assessment records
What defines a competent person?
The Fire Safety Order clearly states that there are two meanings by which competent persons might be identified. They must have both ‘sufficient training and experience’ or alternatively must possess ‘knowledge and other qualities’, which will in both cases, enable them to properly carry out the task at hand.
Where does the Fire Safety Order (FSO) apply?
Virtually all premises, nearly every type of building structure, and certain open spaces.
How can we help?
Our end goal is to make sure your business is safe from fire and that you are meeting your obligations under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
At Assured Partners, we have qualified, competent fire risk assessors who specialise in education premises. We assess all building sizes from small prep schools through to large boarding houses and listed buildings, right across the UK.
All of these options are available as standalone services. However, an increasing number of our clients are choosing to manage their risk through ‘ONE’, our comprehensive integrated risk solution.
