LIIBA and upReach Insurance Springboard Programme
26/06/2023 Written by: AP Communications
AssuredPartners International is partnering with The London and International Insurance Brokers’ Association (LIIBA) and upReach for the Insurance Springboard Programme for 2023.
The London and International Insurance Brokers’ Association (LIIBA) has launched a new insurance initiative to help university students have more opportunities to pursue a career in the insurance industry. The Insurance Springboard Programme is run by both LIIBA and upReach, a social mobility charity founded in 2012. Students will be matched with mentors from the insurance industry who will aid their career development and raise awareness of opportunities in the insurance market.
The charity upReach helps disadvantaged students by working with universities and top employers to provide opportunities to broaden their career horizons in competitive industries. The insurance springboard initiative is tackling social mobility in the UK and research upReach charity has provided shows that “a student from a disadvantaged background who gains a first-class degree from a top university is less likely to secure an elite job than a more privileged student with a 2:2.”
Jacqueline Girow, Associate Director at LIIBA states “Insurance Springboard is just one initiative in our Belonging@LIIBA campaign, which aims to help younger people and those from less advantaged backgrounds by providing them with access to the London insurance market and the professional roles it offers […] We’re also looking for support from market firms by offering work experience for the Associates in London in the week commencing June 19.”
AssuredPartners International will be taking part in the insurance springboard programme commencing 19th of June 2023, where we will be mentoring two undergraduate university students from the University of Nottingham and the University of Manchester. We are honoured to be a part of this wonderful initiative and welcome the two associates into the AssuredPartners London team for one week. During the programme, associates will be supported by Dan Moss a broker in our Mergers & Acquisitions team, and Joe Royce a Broker & Account Manager in our Asset Management Team. Throughout the week will gain valuable knowledge from inductions, project initiations, team shadowing at Lloyd’s of London and our partners at Aspen Insurance will be giving an introduction to underwriting in insurance.
