Pandemic insurance for schools
In the 2025 UK Government Risk Register, a future pandemic was identified as the most likely and catastrophic risk to the UK in the next five years*. In the event of this, it's unlikely that the Government will have funds to cover bounce back loans or furlough schemes to protect organisations.
Unlike traditional insurance, which pays out based on actual losses incurred, pandemic insurance provides payouts at the point that the World Health Organisation declares a pandemic. This model allows the policyholder to set a limit required to 'keep the lights on' in the event of a pandemic and receive faster payouts through a simpler claims process.
